Bio & Overview
Kristin Bibee, MD, PhD, is a dermatologist with expertise in skin cancer. Her specialties include Mohs micrographic surgery, transplant dermatology, and the treatment of high-risk cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma.
Her research focuses on treatments for cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma in immunocompromised patients.
“As a physician, my role is to partner with patients to educate them on their skin disease and help them decide on the best treatment course,” she says.
Bibee was born and raised in Lynchburg. She attended the Central Virginia Governor’s School for Math, Science, and Technology and fell in love with scientific research.
She earned her medical degree and a doctorate in molecular and cellular biology and completed her internal medicine internship at Washington University in St. Louis. She completed her residency in dermatology, a fellowship in micrographic surgery and dermatologic oncology, and post-doctoral research into the cutaneous tumor microenvironment at the University of Pittsburgh.
She previously served on the faculty at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, where she taught medical students, residents, and fellows and ran a research group in addition to treating patients.
Bibee became a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals when the team won two World Series championships while she lived in the city.
