Bio & Overview
Lisa Letzkus, PhD, RN, CPNP-AC, is a distinguished pediatric nurse practitioner and nurse scientist. At UVA Health Children’s, she serves as the medical director of pediatric complex care, the Early Development Clinic, and the developmental inpatient consultation service.
Beyond her leadership within the hospital's medical services, Lisa has significantly impacted clinical care in ambulatory settings across Virginia and rural Appalachia.
Lisa uses advanced analytics to enhance early detection of infants at high risk for neuro-disabilities. This enables targeted interventions during critical developmental periods. Her pioneering work in this area has garnered international acclaim, complemented by her role as a board member of the American Academy of Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine, an organization she continues to actively support. She is also a fellow in the American Academy of Nursing.
A lifelong resident of Charlottesville, Lisa attended Albemarle High School and developed a passion for horseback riding, which she pursued alongside collegiate soccer. Her early career aspirations to become a nurse were driven by a natural inclination towards inquiry and lifelong learning, ultimately leading her to embrace the path of a nurse scientist.
Lisa and her partner have chosen to establish roots in Charlottesville, where they are raising their twin son and daughter.
