Bio & Overview
Matthew McCord, MD, is a neuropathologist who specializes in diagnosing diseases of the brain, nerves, muscles, and eyes.
His research focuses on understanding why and how brain tumors become resistant to treatment and on identifying new therapies.
Dr. McCord grew up in Stuart, a small town in south Florida, and became interested in medicine at a young age.
He completed his undergraduate degree at Florida Institute of Technology and attended medical school at the University of Florida. While in medical school, he participated in the Medical Research Scholars Program at the National Institutes of Health, which sparked his interest in brain tumor research.
Dr. McCord completed his anatomic pathology residency and neuropathology fellowship, as well as a post-doctoral research fellowship, at Northwestern University in Chicago.
