Highlights
Meet Nahmeh Pirsaharkhiz, MD
Hi, I'm Naghmeh Pirsa. I'm one of the general surgeons at UVA Health. As a general surgeon, we see a broad range of patients in the office every day. People come to us with abdominal wall hernias, gallbladder disease, thyroid and parathyroid problems, skin lesions that need to be surgically removed or even intestinal issues like colon cancer. Growing up, I was always interested in biology and human anatomy. I did a lot of volunteer work when I was in college and that exposed me to different medical subspecialties. And quickly I realized how much I enjoyed the role of it, healer to my patients. I always make sure to take my time and explain the underlying pathology that the patients present with, as well as the different treatment plans that would be available for that pathology and allow them to ask questions before making an informed decision together. I get the greatest satisfaction when I see my patients after the surgery in the office, and they tell me that their pain or whatever problem they came to me with in the first place has completely resolved since the operation. People here are very passionate about providing the latest technology and treatment modalities available in medicine for our patients.
