Bio & Overview
Selena Blankenship, MSN, FNP-C, is a nurse practitioner who specializes in pre-anesthesia evaluation and perioperative care.
With clinical experience in primary care and oncology, she is dedicated to helping patients feel informed, prepared, and supported as they navigate their healthcare journey.
“I believe that listening to patients and building trusting relationships are essential to providing exceptional care,” she says. “I enjoy taking the time to educate patients about their health, answer questions, and help ease concerns before surgery.”
Her background in oncology has given her a deep appreciation for the challenges patients and families face during complex medical treatments. She brings that perspective to every patient interaction. “My goal is to provide compassionate, individualized care that promotes safety, confidence, and peace of mind throughout the surgical experience,” she says.
Selena received her nursing degree from the University of Lynchburg in 1999 and spent a majority of her early career in the outpatient setting. She returned to school in 2007 to pursue her master’s degree and graduated from UVA’s Family Nurse Practitioner Program in 2010. She worked in a variety of clinical settings, from primary care to medical oncology, before returning to UVA Health in 2023.
In her free time, she enjoys biking, walking, running, and cooking fresh from the garden just like her grandmother taught her.
