Bio & Overview
Samantha Batman, MD, is a gynecologic oncologist who treats gynecologic cancers using chemotherapy and minimally invasive and open surgery procedures.
Her research interests include health disparities and global health research, especially the prevention and early treatment of cervical cancer.
“My goal is to make patients feel heard and understood, and like they have a true partner in their oncologic care from the initial visit,” she says. “Members of my own family have been hesitant to seek care in the past, and it is my goal to help people feel like they have a physician that is truly invested in them.”
Dr. Batman was born and raised in Los Angeles and studied international relations at the University of Pennsylvania. She earned her medical degree from Dartmouth University and a master’s degree in public health from Yale University. She completed her obstetrics and gynecology residency at Oregon Health & Science University and her gynecologic oncology fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center.
“I wanted to be a doctor because I enjoy one-on-one patient interactions and wanted to be in the field of women's health so that I could empower women to pursue their passions and continue to better their lives,” she says.
Outside of work, she enjoys cooking, reading, playing board games, and spending time with her husband and their daughters.
