Thomas Shin, MD, PhD, is a surgeon in Charlottesville who specializes in bariatric surgery and surgery for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). He also performs minimally invasive general surgery, such as hernia repairs and gallbladder surgery.
He completed a joint MD/PhD program at Boston University.
Dr. Shin’s research focuses on, “understanding the crosstalk between obesity, metabolic health, and the immune system.” His research interests include:
