Todd Miller Stevens, MD

Todd Stevens, MD, is an anesthesiologist specializing in regional anesthesia, acute pain management, and ambulatory anesthesia.

He focuses on responsible use of opioid pain medicine and minimizing stress on the body before, during, and after surgery to promote faster recovery.

“I approach every patient as an individual,” he says. “We all bring so much to our encounters with the healthcare system, especially in the time before surgery. I try to treat every patient with care and compassion, explaining how the anesthesia will keep them safe and take care of them during their procedure.”

Dr. Stevens was born in Newport News and grew up in the Tidewater area. He knew he wanted to work in healthcare at an early age and worked in a local surgeon’s office.

He attended the University of Richmond where he studied biology and participated in a medical mission trip to Central America. He discovered his love for anesthesiology while at Georgetown University School of Medicine.

At Duke University, he completed his internship, residency, and fellowship in regional anesthesia and pain management. He previously worked in private practice, caring for patients having same-day surgeries in orthopedics and leading several surgery centers in the Richmond area.

Dr. Stevens is married and the father of three children. He enjoys walking his dog, traveling, spending time on the water, and hiking in the mountains. He’s passionate about environmental conservation and sustainable living.
