Bio & Overview
Dr. Millard was born in Abington, Pennsylvania and grew up in Bucks County. She attended Lafayette College in Easton, PA and earned a bachelor of science in biology. Following college, she completed medical school at Penn State University. She moved to Charlottesville, Virginia for internal medicine residency at the University of Virginia. Following completion of her residency, she served as internal medicine chief resident at UVA. She then stayed at UVA to complete her hematology/oncology fellowship.
Dr. Millard holds a clinical faculty appointment in medicine in hematology/oncology at the University of Virginia. She specializes in the medical treatment of breast cancer. She is committed to providing compassionate and high-quality care to all patients. Her research interests include clinical trial development and enrollment in early-stage and metastatic breast cancer trials.
In her spare time, Dr. Millard enjoys participating in a book club, hosting friends, hiking and spending time with her family.

Trish MillardTranscription My name is Trish Millard and I am a medical oncologist at the University of Virginia. I specialize in the treatment of breast cancer, so I see patients of all genders and all different stages of breast cancer. Those that are confined to the breast, as well as those that have metastasized outside of the breast. And each of the different types of breast cancer. So patients get a diagnosis of cancer and it's completely new to them. They feel vulnerable they feel scared and it's a real crisis point for them and their family. And I really appreciate getting to be part of that interaction helping them through that both from a treatment standpoint but as well as from a sort of emotional support standpoint. I'm passionate about really connecting with my patients. I like to get to know them as more than just a cancer. So that starts with when I first meet them, understanding what their role in their family in their community and what they do on a day to day basis helps me offer them treatment that matches their values. I think it's important to remember that every breast cancer patient is different and an individual. And so making sure that you understand that and appreciate their values and also connect with their family members and provide support to both the patient but the family and that that is a really important part of treating a cancer patient and especially a breast cancer patient.
