Dr. Elizabeth Lyons is a general internist with a focus on women’s health. She is associate program director for the Internal Medicine Residency Program and an associate professor of medicine in the Division of General Medicine, Geriatrics and Palliative Care. She is board-certified in internal medicine.

Dr. Lyons attended Swarthmore College for her undergraduate studies, graduating with honors. She earned her medical degree and completed her residency in internal medicine at Northwestern University in Chicago, where she served as chief medical resident in her final year. She joined the University of Virginia faculty in 2013.

Dr. Lyons is wonderful. I have several chronic conditions and other specialists at UVA, and she knowledgably and skillfully tracks my overall care, while managing routine care and acute issues that arise. She is warm, personable and compassionate as well. I am so fortunate to be her patient!

I am almost 68 years old and have lived all over the country, Dr Lyons is hands down the best PC doctor I have ever seen. She listens, really listens. Very compassionate and empathetic. She never rushes me and always offers suggestions or answer or solutions to my problems or questions. I wish everyone could have a Dr like Dr Lyons. The world would be a better place.

Dr. Lyons is an excellent physician. She discussed my diagnoses and their severity, and possible treatment plans/options as well as risks and benefits. Prior to my retirement I worked with physicians all across the US and she is one of the best physicians I have worked with and the best PCP I have had.
