Allie Gossen, MS, is a board-certified genetic counselor. She sees a broad range of pediatric, metabolic, and adult patients in both hospital and clinic settings. She particularly enjoys pediatric genetics.
Allie was raised in West Lafayette, Indiana, through middle school, when her family relocated to Forest, at the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains. She has been a Virginian ever since.
Allie studied at the University of Virginia’s distinguished major program for human biology, earning her bachelor’s degree. Her thesis topic — using telemedicine in response to the Ebola virus outbreak — informed procedures to safely communicate with patients who have COVID-19. During her undergraduate work, she held an internship in bioethics and served as an emergency medical technician on weekends.
Allie received her master’s in genetic counseling at Virginia Commonwealth University. While she loved living in Richmond, she was thrilled to return to Charlottesville when she joined UVA Health in 2020.
In her free time, Allie enjoys the amazing hikes that Virginia has to offer, watching UVA basketball, bouldering indoors, and, most of all, spending quality time with her family, friends, and their dogs.
