Andrew J. Barros, MD, grew up in Fairfax, Virginia, and did his undergraduate studies at the University of Virginia in computer science. After graduating, he went on to receive his medical degree from the University of Virginia. He completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of Virginia and then fellowship training in pulmonary medicine and critical care medicine at the University of Virginia. After his fellowship, Dr. Barros joined UVA as an assistant professor of medicine, focusing on pulmonary disease and critical care.
Dr. Barros’ research interests are using high dimensional electronic health record data and medical data science techniques to improve care quality and outcomes in hospitalized adults.
Dr. Barros enjoys time with his wife (a primary care physician) and two daughters outside of work. He enjoys running, cycling, and technology.Professional Affiliations
