Charles S. Horn, MD, provides primary care to children, adolescents and young adults. Before joining UVA as associate professor of pediatrics, Dr. Horn spent 30 years as a pediatrician in the U.S. Army, retiring at the rank of colonel.
In addition to seeing patients, Dr. Horn teaches medical students and medical doctors who are in training (residents).
Born in Michigan, Dr. Horn grew up throughout the U.S. and Europe, where his father was stationed in the U.S. Army. For his undergraduate degree, he attended Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering, and played on the football team. He earned his medical degree at UVA.
Dr. Horn’s wife of more than 40 years is a graduate of UVA School of Nursing and a public health nurse. Together, they raise Angus cattle on their family farm in Madison. They enjoy traveling to visit their grown children and grandchildren, who live in Oregon and North Carolina.
