Claire Denny, MS, PA, is a certified physician assistant who joined the UVA Sports Medicine Clinic in 2013. She specializes in caring for patients with injuries of the shoulders, knees and hips, and has a specific interest in shoulder replacements and ultrasound-guided injections.
Originally from Virginia Beach, Denny received her undergraduate degree from Sewanee: The University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. After graduation, she worked for the medical nonprofit Operation Smile, managing their surgical programs in Africa and the Middle East for several years. This experience inspired her to return to school to study medicine. Denny went on to achieve certification as a physician assistant at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk.
Outside of work, Denny enjoys spending time with her family and friends, hiking with her dogs, gardening and cheering on the Hoos.
