Corrie Parker, FNP-C, has been part of the UVA Family Medicine team since June 2015. She graduated from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science in biology and also minored in chemistry and horticulture. After working in the field of biology for a several years, Parker decided she wanted to focus more on the human aspect of biology and enter the world of healthcare. She attended graduate school at the University of Virginia, where she graduated in 2008 with a Master of Science in Nursing.
Parker then worked as a registered nurse in the UVA Emergency Department for seven years. “I loved the thrill of the emergency department, and I also saw the devastation that comes with the lack of primary care,” she says. “I decided to commit my career to primary care in order to provide preventative care and hopefully keep people out of the ER.”
To further her training and her career, Parker returned to graduate school at UVA. She received a post-master’s certificate and became a board-certified family nurse practitioner in 2015. Her focus today is on preventing illness and disease. She is passionate about providing quality care for infants, children, adolescents and adults, as well as prenatal care.
Parker sees patients at UVA Crossroads Family Medicine, where she says she loves “the rural, family atmosphere.” In her free time, she enjoys spending time outside, hiking, gardening, kayaking and snowboarding with her family.
