Biography

Dr. Levin was born and grew up in Willimantic, CT. He graduated cum luade with a B.S. in Biology from Brandeis University in Waltham, MA, and received his medical degree from Dartmouth Medical School in Hanover, NH.

Dr. Levin trained in general surgery at the University of Rochester in Rochester, NY. While there, he was honored to serve as the administrative chief resident and received recognition as the Department of Surgery’s resident of the year. Dr. Levin completed a pediatric surgery research fellowship at the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, where he focused on the generation of tissue engineered intestine for the treatment of short bowel syndrome. Subsequently, he completed his pediatric surgery training at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. While at Hopkins, he was awarded the Frank L. Coulson Jr. award for clinical excellence by the Miller Coulson Academy. Dr. Levin joined the UVA faculty in August 2017. He practices the full breadth of pediatric surgery, with expertise in minimally invasive thoracic and abdominal surgery, chest wall deformities, tumors, congenital anomalies and neonatal surgery.

His wife is a nurse and they have two sons. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, fishing and exploring the outdoors with his family.
