Denise Way, MD, is a family medicine physician at UVA Primary and
Specialty Care and Integrative Medicine Clinic. She specializes in women’s health, adolescent health and sports medicine, and is particularly interested in yoga as medicine. She completed her residency in family medicine at UVA, and her fellowship in integrative medicine at the University of Arizona.Dr. Way received a BFA in dance from the State University of New York at Purchase, and had an active career in dance and choreography before beginning her medical training. She earned a master’s in molecular and cell biology from Long Island University in Brooklyn, and received her medical degree from Albany Medical College. She joined the faculty at UVA in 2014, as a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Family Medicine.
Outside of work, Dr. Way enjoys spending time with her husband, Warren, and her daughters, Violet and Ginger. She also enjoys yoga, reading, swimming, music, dance, art and listening to NPR.
