Douglas Allen, MD, is a pediatric cardiologist at UVA Children’s Hospital. He attended the College of William and Mary, and earned his medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). He stayed on at VCU to complete his residency training in pediatrics and fellowship in pediatric cardiology, and joined the faculty in 2001 as an assistant professor of pediatric cardiology. In 2015, he and his colleague Dr. Albrecht formed UVA Pediatric Cardiology Richmond to bring the extensive resources of UVA Children’s Hospital to patients in Richmond.
Dr. Allen served as medical director for the Virginia chapter of the Children’s Heart Foundation from 2005-2012, and is a member of Mended Little Hearts of Central Virginia, a nonprofit that helps support pediatric heart patients and their families.
