Elizabeth White, MD, specializes in identifying young children with neurodevelopmental delays and behavioral differences, promoting early intervention to help ensure the best possible outcomes. She has a specific interest in detecting autism spectrum disorders, and she is also interested in the care of high-risk infants, including those who move on from the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), specifically the evaluation of their developmental trajectories.

In addition to providing patient care at UVA Developmental Pediatrics Clinic, White also works with children at UVA Neonatal Follow-Up Clinic and the Sheila C. Johnson Center at the University of Virginia’s Curry School of Education and Human Development, which provides a variety of services for patients with autism spectrum disorder.

White was born in Macon, Georgia, and raised in Greenville, South Carolina. She graduated from the University of Virginia with a major in English and minor in art history before attending medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina. White then returned to UVA to complete a pediatrics residency and spent two years on faculty at UVA Northridge Pediatrics before returning to UVA for a fellowship in developmental pediatrics. After finishing her fellowship training, White again joined the faculty at UVA — this time in the Division of Neurodevelopmental and Behavioral Pediatrics.

White met her husband at UVA as an undergraduate and the couple loves calling Charlottesville home. They have three children who keep them busy with school and after-school activities. In her free time, White enjoys traveling, attending UVA sports events and cooking with her family.
