I am a general pediatrician and currently the medical director of Well Newborn Services. I supervise the care of medical students and residents in our Birdsong Clinic, as well as caring for babies on our mother/baby inpatient service. I genuinely enjoy caring for children from birth to young adulthood.
My clinical and research interests likewise span all the ages, from the management of hyperbilirubinemia in infants to screening children or adolescents for hypertension.
As a clinician-educator, I take pride in the teaching awards I have received. Notably, the most recent McLemore Birdsong Teaching Award I received in 2019. There is no greater joy nor greater responsibility than to help prepare the next generation of pediatricians to lead the world in the care of children.
I was born and raised in Babylon, New York. I attended college at the University of Southern California, completed medical school at the Pennsylvania State College of Medicine, and trained in pediatrics at the Emory University Affiliated Hospitals. I began my time at UVA in November 2017.
My wife, Miriam, and I enjoy Charlottesville and look forward to getting more involved in the community. I am an active member at Wesley Memorial UMC and sing in the choir. Miriam, who I met in medical school, and I have three adult children and two grandchildren. I enjoy playing tennis and have a special interest in Civil War history. I spend as much time as possible being physically active at ACAC and hiking in the surrounding area.
