Justin L. Weppner, D.O., is subspecialty trained in brain injury medicine and treats patients with neurologic impairments from traumatic brain injury (TBI), stroke, spasticity, and anoxic brain injury. He serves as the medical director of neurorehabilitation at UVA Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital. His research interests include blast-related mild TBI, disordered sleep in TBI, and the impact of depression, age, and gender on functional recovery after brain injury.
Weppner received his medical degree from West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg, West Virginia. Following his internship, he served as a general medical officer in the U.S. Navy, completing two combat tours in Afghanistan. Upon completing his military service, Weppner went on to complete his residency training in physical medicine and rehabilitation at UVA, followed by a brain injury fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh.
Outside of work, Weppner enjoys spending time with his wife and two kids.
