Laura Parsons, MD, MPH, is an assistant professor in the UVA Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She specializes in caring for patients with a wide range of general obstetric, gynecologic, and surgical issues. Her clinical and research interests include pregnancy/birth, gynecologic surgery, improving the quality of healthcare delivery for women, and resident education.
Dr. Parsons was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. She completed her bachelor’s degree at the University of Georgia, followed by her master’s degree in public health at Emory University. She earned her medical degree from East Tennessee State University, followed by her internship and residency at the University of Virginia. She joined the UVA faculty in 2020.
Her husband, Dr. Andrew Parsons, is an internal medicine hospitalist at UVA Health. They enjoy spending time with their daughter, as well as hiking, local restaurants, and live music.
