Leigh Lather, MD, is a pediatric orthopedist who cares for children with a wide range of orthopedic issues, including fractures, sports injuries, scoliosis, clubfeet, hip dysplasia and a variety of developmental disabilities. She is an assistant professor in the Division of Pediatric Orthopedics and is board-certified in pediatrics.
Born in Minnesota, Dr. Lather spent her childhood in Iowa, New Jersey and England. She completed her undergraduate studies at Duke University and earned her medical degree with honors from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She completed her pediatric residency at the University of Virginia, serving as chief resident and a clinical instructor in pediatrics. Dr. Lather worked in private practice pediatrics in an underserved area of eastern North Carolina for thirteen years before returning to UVA for a fellowship in non-operative pediatric orthopedics. She joined the faculty in 2012.
Outside of her role at UVA, Dr. Lather spends as much time as possible with her family, all of whom enjoy cooking, reading, traveling and spending time outside, especially hiking in the mountains.
