Masahiro “Mori” Morikawa, MD, MPH, is clinical director of UVA Family Medicine, providing care to both adults and children. In the medical field for more than 30 years, he is passionate about global health and trains primary care providers around the world, including Malawi, Tanzania, Thailand and China.
Morikawa was born and raised in Kobe, Japan. He graduated from Tokyo Medical University and completed a residency in traumatology and critical care at Nippon Medical School Hospital in Tokyo before moving to the U.S. He obtained a Master of Public Health from Johns Hopkins University and then finished his family medicine residency training at Case Western Reserve University, where he was a faculty member for 20 years.
In his free time, Morikawa enjoys gardening, strength training and traveling with his wife, Hikari.
