Nancy F. Vilar, MD, PhD is a neuro-ophthalmologist who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of visual symptoms resulting from headaches and migraines, as well as blurred vision, eyelid, pupil, optic nerve and cerebrovascular abnormalities.
Vilar attended medical school at the Complutense University of Madrid, Spain, where she also completed her ophthalmology residency training, did a fellowship in neuro-ophthalmology and obtained her Ph.D. degree, graduating summa cum laude. Vilar then left Spain for the U.S., completing an internship in internal medicine at Louisiana State University, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She went on to pursue an ophthalmology residency at the University of Missouri, Kansas City and completed additional fellowship training in neuro-opthalmology at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami School of Medicine in Miami, Florida, where she also served as a retinal clinical research assistant.
Vilar has presented her work at the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the North American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society, and she has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals.
