Biography

Negiin Pourafshar, MD, FASN, earned her medical degree from Shiraz University of Medical Sciences in Iran. She joined the UVA faculty in 2017 after completing a residency and fellowship at University of Florida.

Pourafshar sees patients at UVA Specialty Care Pinnacle Drive in Fishersville, and specializes in treating the renal-related aspects of heart failure, disorders of fluid homeostasis, cardiorenal syndrome and renal pathology after heart transplant. 

Pourafshar also has been involved in clinical research related to the interactions between the kidney and heart in various pathologic situations, including posttransplant and after major surgery. Multiple peer-reviewed journals have published articles highlighting her research and she has presented at several national and international conferences, including the American Society of Nephrology. In addition, Pourafshar is an active teacher, presenting regularly to local medical and physician assistant students. 

In her free time, Pourafshar enjoys spending time with family, hiking, cooking and swimming.
