Rita Von Seggern is an adult-geriatric acute care nurse practitioner specializing in advanced heart failure, including left ventricular assist devices (LVADs) and transplantation.
A Nebraska native, she earned her bachelor’s in nursing from Augustana College (now University) in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and her master’s as an adult-geriatric acute care nurse practitioner from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. She then completed a fellowship in cardiology at the Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences in Scottsdale, Arizona.
In 2015, Ms. Von Seggern began work in the inpatient advanced heart disease service at UVA. She is active in the Professional Nursing Staff Organization (PNSO), serving as the 2017 chair of the Advanced Practice Provider Committee. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, biking, volleyball and taking road trips.
