Shelly Dean is a pediatric nurse practitioner who has worked at UVA since 1996 and in pediatric gastroenterology since 2003, with a focus on pediatric liver transplant starting in 2008. She currently manages both general pediatric gastroenterology patients and pediatric liver transplant patients.
Ms. Dean was born in Waynesboro and grew up in the Valley, where she still lives. She received an associate nursing degree from Blue Ridge Community College in 2001, then a master’s degree in nursing (CNL) from Spring Hill College in Alabama in 2012. She earned her Pediatric Nurse Practitioner certification from UVA in 2014.
She and her husband have four children, all in their 20s, and enjoy spending time with them most of all. They love to camp and travel whenever they can.
