Sheriff Akinleye, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in upper extremity surgery (shoulder to fingertips). He cares for patients who have chronic pain, numbness or fractures in their shoulders, arms, forearms, wrists and hands. He specializes in joint replacement, arthroscopy and soft tissue management.
Dr. Akinleye completed his hand and upper extremity fellowship training at UVA Health. A graduate of the Perelman School of Medicine at University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Akinleye completed a research fellowship and orthopedic surgery residency at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. He is also a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Dr. Akinleye was born in the Bronx and grew up in Queens, NY. He credits his large and close, tight-knit family for helping to shape his character and work ethic.
