Bio & Overview
Drew Harris, MD, is the assistant dean of Continuous Education at the University of Virginia School of Medicine and a rural-health focused pulmonologist at UVA Health with expertise in severe asthma, COPD and occupational lung diseases, such as black lung.
His work advocating for the health and well-being of coal miners has been featured in the New York Times and on NPR. Dr. Harris has also testified as an expert witness in front of the U.S. Senate.
Dr. Harris earned his medical degree at the University of Pittsburgh. He completed an internal medicine residency and chief residency at Emory University. He served for two years in the Indian Health Service at Tuba City Regional Hospital in Arizona. He completed a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at Yale University.
