Susan Herndon, MSN, RN, AGNP-C, AOCNP, is a hematology/oncology nurse practitioner. She sees patients with blood diseases as well as sarcomas and other cancers.
Susie grew up in Frederick, Maryland, and earned her bachelor's degree in English from William & Mary. She has a bachelor's degree in nursing from Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing and a master's degree in nursing from Duke University School of Nursing. Before joining UVA, she practiced in a community hematology/oncology office in rural northeast Virginia.
“I've wanted to be in healthcare since I was a teenager and volunteered in my local community hospital while in high school," she says."My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer when I was a teenager, and that steered me into the oncology field when I entered nursing school.”
Susie has two children and has called Charlottesville home since March 2022.
