Bio & Overview
Aaron M. Blackshaw, MD, is an emergency physician and the assistant medical director for the Department of Emergency Medicine.
He was born and raised in Charlotte, NC, and studied biology at the College of Charleston. He received his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina and completed his emergency medicine residency at the University of Virginia, where he served as chief resident.
“Even in a busy emergency department, I will try to listen, explain what I am thinking, and make decisions with patients rather than simply doing medicine to them,” he says. “I care and they are surrounded by others in the ER who have made it their career and life to care.”
Dr. Blackshaw is married and the proud dad to two children and a dog.
