Abigail Bideaux, MD, is a UVA Health physical medicine and rehabilitation physician. She specializes in:

“I love educating patients,” she says. “I feel it is a patient's right to understand what is happening in their body. With my athletes specifically, my goal is to help them balance achieving peak performance without sacrificing long-term health.”

Dr. Bideaux grew up in Binghamton, NY. She fell in love with running in high school and ran for Cornell University.

During her running career, she sustained two stress fractures, injuries that ultimately led her to pursue a medical career. She received her medical degree from SUNY Upstate Medical University and completed her residency training at the University of Virginia. As a physician, she support patients navigating similar injuries and challenges. She was a recipient of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine Resident Scholar award at the 2026 annual meeting.

In her free time, she enjoys fitness and sports. She ran a qualifying time for the Boston Marathon during her residency and completed a half Ironman in medical school.
