Bio & Overview
Afshan Alvi, MD, FACC, is a cardiologist who specializes in women’s health, preventive cardiology and cardiac imaging.
She says that medicine and taking care of patients are her passion.
“I am a strong advocate for patient satisfaction,” she says. “I ensure that all of their concerns are addressed, and I take care of them as I would take care of a family member.”
Born and raised in Pakistan, Dr. Alvi received her medical degree from what is now called Faisalabad Medical University before moving to the U.S. for additional training. At Bronx Lebanon Hospital in Bronx, New York, she completed her residency and chief residency prior to pursuing a cardiology fellowship at nearby Montefiore Medical Center.
As a child, Dr. Alvi was inspired to pursue a career in medicine after her father became a patient. This experience shaped her practice.
“I am honest and loyal to my patients and my profession,” she says. “I do the best I can to give them a feeling that their voice is being heard and their concerns are valid."
