Bio & Overview
Alanna Bergman, PhD, MSN, AGNP-BC, is an infectious diseases nurse practitioner whose specialties include HIV prevention and treatment, sexually transmitted infections, and tuberculosis.
Her research focuses on understanding and addressing social and structural barriers to tuberculosis and HIV care.
“I try to get to know patients on a personal level,” she says. “HIV is a chronic illness, but it’s still stigmatized. I work hard to gain trust and understand how patients’ experiences shape their health and how they take care of themselves.”
Bergman grew up outside of Philadelphia. She received her undergraduate nursing degree from Temple University and her master’s degree in nursing from LaSalle University. She earned her PhD in nursing from Johns Hopkins University.
