Highlights
Profile
My name is Camilo Fadul. I'm a neurologist with UVA Health. I take care of patients in the clinic and the patients who come to see me are patients who either have a primary brain tumor or they have a metastasis, meaning a spread of their cancer from, for example, the lung to the brain. We also see patients, for example, who are going to receive chemotherapy or radiation therapy, and there is a concern that those patients can have more toxicity associated to the treatment. So that's one of my big roles, I think more educating and being more like a coach in a sense. I fell in love with neurology just because of the ability of getting the information from the patient, being able to examine the patient and then be able to localize in the nervous system where the lesion was and then make it a differential diagnosis. Patients are coming not only for my expertise, but by the expertise of the group within our institution. We try to treat the patients in the same way that we will treat ourselves or a family member. And so they're coming here looking for treatments that not only prolong life, but also that would provide them with an improved quality of life.
