Highlights
Dr. Christiana Brenin profile video
My name is Christiana Brenin. I am a medical oncologist at the University of Virginia. I take care primarily of breast cancer patients, who have already had surgery. They come to the medical oncologist after their surgical procedure. I see women as well as men. I see all ages. I've always wanted to go into medicine. I've always liked taking care of people. To me that feels good and it's a very rewarding experience. I feel that people who are in distress, who are anxious, I feel bring out the best in me and I really like to be with them. I like patients to be involved in their care. I like them to take part in the decisions that they make. I like them to keep me updates as to how they're doing. I like them to understand that we're a team taking care of them. It is not me, an individual. I cannot do it all by myself. We have quite the team in the breast center taking care of patients. There's always support in administration to advance the care that we deliver and just to do better. There's tremendous push on patient safety, on quality and patient safety so we're all involved in some kind of quality or safety project and I really feel that it keeps us on our toes all the time. That we're always asked to reach a higher bar.
