Highlights
Christine Ibilibor, MD Profile Video
I'm Christine Ibilibor, I'm a urologic oncologist in the Department of Urology. I treat patients surgically who have kidney cancers, bladder, as well as any genital urinary cancers. Cancer care can be very complex and oftentimes scary for patients. So as a urologic oncologist, I have the unique opportunity to help them through a difficult time, provide treatment options, and help them through their cancer care. The procedure that I do the most at UVA is robotic procedures. Robotic surgery helps minimize the postoperative course and speed up wound healing because it uses small incisions. I think patients should come to UVA for their treatment because at UVA we work as a team in all aspects of patient care, and we all work very well together, even across surgical specialties and departments. I'm passionate about patient wellness. I find that patients who adopt good health habits, including exercise and minimizing their stress level are able to fare better during surgical procedures. When patients come to see me, they can expect to hear a lot of information about their care, their treatment plan. I find that it's very important for patients to be as well informed as possible when they're deciding on a surgical or non-surgical treatment option.
