Dr. Rembold specializes in preventive cardiology, treatment of severe hypertension, treatment of severe dyslipidemia, carotid intimal medial thickness imaging to predict risk of heart attack and stroke, treatment of the metabolic syndrome, prevention of diabetes, and general cardiology. Prevention of heart attack, stroke, and dementia involves dietary changes (increased omega 3 and 9 fats and decreased saturated and omega 6 fats), exercise, avoidance of tobacco, and medications.
Dr. Rembold has been principal investigator or co-principal investigator on 16 research projects. These projects are currently studying or have studied arterial smooth muscle contraction and relaxation, carotid intimal medial thickness imaging to predict risk of heart attack and stroke, pediatric sleep apnea, and outcomes research. He has shared his research and experience by co-authoring 95 peer-reviewed journal publications and book chapters and through 134 invited presentations or visiting professorships.
