Claire McMahon, FNP-C, is a nurse practitioner who provides care for an array of orthopedic injuries, including:
- • Fractures of ankle, toe, foot, tibia, femur, & proximal humerus
- • Shoulder tendonitis
- • Tendinopathy
- • Rotator cuff injury
- • Rupture of Achilles tendon, patella tendon, & quadriceps tendon
- • Stress injuries & fractures
She also cares for patients who have osteoarthritis or have orthopedic issues related to cancer treatment.
Claire was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Virginia in 2010.
As a registered nurse, she worked at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital taking care of orthopedic patients and working in the operating room. She later returned to UVA to obtain her Master of Science in Nursing in 2017.
After becoming a nurse practitioner, she worked at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital on the Orthopedics team. Claire returned to UVA in 2022 to join the UVA Ortho Trauma and Oncology team.
Outside of work, Claire enjoys spending time with her husband. She also enjoys tending to her ducks and chickens, gardening, and cobia fishing.
