Family Medicine
Bio & Overview
Corrie Parker, FNP-C, has been part of the UVA Family Medicine team since June 2015. She graduated from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science in biology and also minored in chemistry and horticulture. After working in the field of biology for a several years, Parker decided she wanted to focus more on the human aspect of biology and enter the world of healthcare. She attended graduate school at the University of Virginia, where she graduated in 2008 with a Master of Science in Nursing.
Parker then worked as a registered nurse in the UVA Emergency Department for seven years. “I loved the thrill of the emergency department, and I also saw the devastation that comes with the lack of primary care,” she says. “I decided to commit my career to primary care in order to provide preventative and comprehensive care and hopefully keep people out of the ER.”
To further her training and her career, Parker returned to graduate school at UVA. She received a post-master’s certificate and became a board-certified family nurse practitioner in 2015. Her focus today is on preventing and treating illness and disease. She is passionate about providing high quality care for infants, children, adolescents and adults, as well as prenatal care.
Parker sees patients at UVA Crossroads Family Medicine, where she says she loves “the rural, family atmosphere.” In her free time, she enjoys spending time outside, hiking, gardening, kayaking and snowboarding with her family.

Highlights
Family Nurse Practitioner Corrie Parker
My name is Corrie Parker and I'm a family nurse practitioner. I take care of patients of all ages starting with newborns all the way through the end of life. I worked as an emergency room nurse for many years before I decided to go back to school to become a nurse practitioner. I decided to further my education to become a nurse practitioner so that I could have more time with patients and make a bigger impact in their lives. I really try to get to know my patients, get to know them as an individual, their life situation, what they're stressors are, so that I can help them understand more about what is going on and what we need to do to fix things. I enjoy women's healthcare, pediatric care, prenatal care. I help people with their acute care needs, chronic care, as well as preventative. I really like to see people before they get sick so that I can help them prevent illness. I learn things everyday from my patients. Just listening to people you can learn so much about them and about life in general and how people perceive things and how those perceptions impact their health.
