Darnisha Pitts, MSN, FNP-BC, is an internal medicine nurse practitioner who diagnoses and treats acute and chronic conditions and provides prevention and health education and chronic disease management.
“I wanted to become a nurse practitioner to educate, teach, and heal patients,” she says. “I am passionate about patient education and love to build connections with people while helping them to become the best version of themselves.”
Pitts grew up in Tappahannock, a small rural town in Virginia. She became interested in healthcare while volunteering at her local hospital.
She earned her undergraduate nursing degree and her master of science in nursing in the family nurse practitioner program at the University of Virginia. She previously worked in inpatient and outpatient general medicine and on inpatient acute care trauma and surgery units at UVA Health.
