[MUSIC PLAYING] - I'm Douglas Allen, pediatric cardiologist here at UVA Children's Hospital. I, along with my colleague Dr. Albrecht, formed UVA pediatric cardiology Richmond, which is a outreach clinic in Richmond, Virginia. Our practice is locally staffed, locally operated, and provides children and families in Richmond the opportunity to have access to all the expertise that UVA medical center brings. We're able to provide the full breadth the diagnostic evaluations from EKGs and prolonged monitoring, echocardiography, fetal echocardiography, which allows us to diagnose congenital heart disease in utero. All of the data that we gather, all the imaging that's performed in that practice is available for review by my colleagues here at UVA immediately and therefore, I have access to international experts and pediatric electrophysiology, transplant medicine, and congenital heart surgery and can review patient cases with them in real time. As a father of two children, I recognize that for parents, there's nothing more important in the world than the well-being of their children and I see patients on a daily basis whose parents are concerned that there may be something dreadfully wrong with their child. Fortunately, the vast majority of my patients don't have anything so critically wrong with them and they're able to leave my office after our evaluations with peace of mind and reassurance that their child is going to be just fine.
