Bio & Overview
Elisabeth Maynard, FNP-C, is a family nurse practitioner who focuses on improving the lives of patients with neurological conditions. She diagnoses and manages movement disorders, memory disorders, migraines, multiple sclerosis, and neuropsychological conditions.
“I enjoy taking the time to get to know my patients,” she says. “It’s important to learn about their health priorities and what they already are doing to manage their health. Having this foundation helps me better develop a health plan with them.”
Maynard was born in New Jersey and spent her youth split between that state and with family in the Dominican Republic. Her diverse background helps her work more closely with patients in several languages.
She came to Charlottesville to study psychology at the University of Virginia, fell in love with the area, and decided to stay.
She earned her nursing degree from Old Dominion University and her master’s degree in nursing and family nurse practitioner credential from Simmons University in Boston. She earned her Certified Neuroscience Registered Nurse (CNRN) credential from the American Association of Neuroscience Nurses.
Maynard is a fierce advocate for her patients. “Seeing a patient through a complicated and often difficult process is extremely rewarding,” she says.
In her free time, she loves spending time with her family and dogs, gardening, discovering new live music, and traveling.
