Gavin MacCleery, PA-C, is the lead advanced practice provider in the UVA Department of Neurosurgery. He specializes in caring for patients with a variety of neurological and spine disorders, including brain tumors, spinal fractures, skull base conditions and more.
Originally from Newport News, MacCleery received his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia. He then worked in the UVA Department of Pharmacology as a laboratory specialist for five years, assisting with research and maintaining the lab, before pursuing a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.
MacCleery joined the UVA faculty in 2006 as a certified physician assistant in the UVA Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, specializing in foot and ankle surgery. After two years, he transitioned into the field of neurological surgery.
