Bio & Overview
Jack Masur, MD, is a hematologist/oncologist who treats head and neck cancers and genitourinary malignancies, including prostate, kidney, bladder, testicular, and penile cancers.
“Successful outcomes require open dialogue with patients, methodical patient assessments, keen understanding of science, and up-to-date knowledge of the rapid advances in diagnosis and therapy,” he says. “I am energized by being part of a multidisciplinary team that emphasizes care that is data-driven and patient-centered.”
Dr. Masur was born and raised in Bethesda, MD, and attended Middlebury College in Vermont, where he studied economics and played lacrosse. After college, he worked for a financial consulting firm before pursuing a career in medicine.
“I was drawn to medicine because many of my greatest role models found fulfillment and success in the field,” he says. “My grandfather was a physician, my father is a physician, and my mother is a nurse. I decided to leave my career in finance and spent six months in Haiti working in a health clinic, which confirmed my calling.”
Dr. Masur earned his medical degree at George Washington University in Washington, DC. He completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Maryland and his hematology/oncology fellowship at the University of Virginia.
Outside of work, he enjoys staying active, rooting for Washington, DC, sports teams, and spending time with his wife and three young daughters.
