Highlights
Meet Jennifer Handy, DO
Hi, I'm Dr. Jennifer Handy, Family Medicine with UVA Health. I practice family medicine, which is full spectrum. We see all ages in the outpatient office setting, from newborn to the geriatric population up to 100 plus. We manage chronic conditions and provide preventive care such as cancer screenings and advice on diet and exercise to improve health in the long term. I am passionate about preventive care, such as using dietary changes and regular exercise to reverse or prevent disease, leading to a higher quality of life for my patients. The thing that gives me the greatest satisfaction when seeing patients is helping patients to feel heard. So many people have accessed the health system in a way that makes them feel like a cog in the machine. I believe it's important to explore mental, social, physical history and how these things might inform their current health as well as a way forward to improve their health for their future. UVA Health is such a positive addition to the healthcare offerings in Northern Virginia. As a primary care physician, I feel very supported by the large network of specialists available both here and in Charlottesville. My access to the specialists throughout the UVA system improves the care I am able to offer to every patient here.
