Bio & Overview

Jennifer Hendrick, MD, also practices under the name Jennifer Sasson.

As an infectious diseases physician, Dr. Hendrick, specializes in diagnosing and treating conditions caused by harmful organisms that enter the body, such as bacteria, parasites, viruses, and fungi.

A native of Rochester, New York, Dr. Hendrick aspired to be a doctor for as long as she can remember. “I don’t know exactly where that interest comes from, as there is no one in my family in health care,” Dr. Hendrick says.

“I’ve always gravitated towards science and medicine. I enjoy thinking outside of the box, problem solving, and most of all, I want to make a difference in other people's lives.”

After earning her bachelor’s degree from State University of New York (SUNY) Geneseo, Dr. Hendrick earned her medical degree from SUNY Upstate Medical University. She completed her internal medicine residency and infectious diseases fellowship at UVA Health. She also received a master in clinical research degree from UVA.

Outside of work, Dr. Hendrick enjoys visiting new places and learning about different cultures. She and her husband, a middle school history teacher, live in Charlottesville with their two golden retrievers.
