Bio & Overview
Joanne Anderson, AG-ACNP, is an acute care nurse practitioner who cares for patients with end-stage renal disease. She sees patients in the hospital and outpatient dialysis center settings in the Lynchburg/Farmville area.
“Communication is key to working with patients,” she shares. She decided on a healthcare career, she says, because “I want to help people, especially my father understand his diagnosis of diabetes.”
Joanne grew up in Amherst County, Virginia. She began her healthcare career as an RN on the diabetic-renal floor at Centra Health. She then worked for many years in the medical intensive care unit (ICU) at Centra.
She obtained her nurse practitioner (NP) certification in 2020 from the University of Virginia. Before joining UVA Health, she worked as a nurse practitioner with Gastroenterology Associates of Central Virginia in Lynchburg.
