Joseph Clara, MD, is a hematologist/oncologist who treats patients with blood cancers, including acute myeloid leukemia (AML), acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs), and high-risk or relapsed blood cancers.
He has expertise in many kinds of blood cancer treatments including:
- Stem cell transplantation
- Natural killer (NK) cell and T-cell immunotherapy
- Immune reconstitution post-transplant
“I believe in partnering closely with my patients and their families and making treatment decisions together,” he says. “Transplant and cellular therapies are complex treatments, and I strive to give each patient the information, time, and support they need to make informed decisions.”
He earned his medical degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. He completed his internal medicine residency at the University of South Florida and his fellowship training in hematology/oncology at the National Institutes of Health.
